OU Sooners defeats Texas A & M in the first NCAA Baseball College World Series

Jimmy Crook is accustomed to the nomadic lifestyle of this OU postseason.

After winning the Big 12 Championship title in Arlington, Texas, Sooners continued touring, winning both the Gainesville Regional and the Blacksburg Super Regional.

“That’s good for us,” Crooks said Wednesday. “We were really made to play on the street. I don’t think the team really cares. I think it will be a little stronger.”

On Friday, Crooks and Sooners returned to the biggest stage in history.

OU launched the College World Series, beating fifth-placed Texas A & M 13-8 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The Suners made an opening statement to record seven runs in the second half, and Crocs released an exclamation mark.

After a solo run from Blake Robertson and a single RBI from Tanner Toledaway extended the lead to 5-0, Crook hit three home runs over the right-wing wall and stole the show.

Jordan Thompson of Texas A & M reduced the gap to 8-3 at the bottom of the frame, but rookie Jackson Nicklaus continued to be in charge of O’U.

When Nicklaus sent a shot that scooped the sky with his right fielder, the Snurs charged the base with three tops. All an Aggie player can do is watch him go over his head in a Grand Slam.

Red-shirt pitcher Jake Bennett upheld the Texas A & M crime. He finished the day with three shots and four to six, but the locks opened as soon as he went down the hill.

Aggie’s shot 4 runs in the second half of the 7th inning, making it a 12-8 contest. They had triple RBI singles, and they all came in double.

But that wasn’t enough.

Double RBI from John Spykerman at the top of 9th place increased the OU lead to 13-8 and Trevin Michael completed the rest. The transfer of graduates achieved the final result of skipping Jack Moss.

Nicklaus finished with 4 RBIs and 2 RBIs. Crook and Robertson added three RBIs, respectively, and increased RBIs 1 to 4 and 1 to 5, respectively.

OU will be 9th in Texas and Notre Dame at 6 pm on Sunday. The Suners can’t count on the red jersey of Junior Brett Squire, who broke his hand on Friday after hitting three times.
